Low key Saturday

Most people look forward to the weekends because you don’t have to go to work. Unfortunately, today I have accomplished nothing. I feel ill and it’s really difficult for me to concentrate on anything. Determined to do something, I watched The Nazi’s Officer’s Wife which was an amazing documentary. A must see.

Now I’m looking for something to play. Matt is raiding which means I could take the 360 and have it all to myself. Only I’m lacking the energy to do anything really. I own a DS and a PSP, both are out of juice and are charging right now. So sad, a gamer that can’t get the energy to play.  Not sure if I’m getting a cold or what this is, I just know I don’t like it.

Tomorrow is the Superbowl. Can’t say I’ll be entirely captured by it. I didn’t really watch most of the post season after the Vikings got knocked off. I will tell you, do not buy into DirectTV’s scam. I bought the season so I could see all the Vikings games, and then was told I’d have to pay extra for HD Vikings games. $200 a month I spent and most of the time the game was on a normal channel. Yeah, next year I’ll be skipping that add-on.

I have a large list of to-do stuff for GA. Really large. I think I’m avoiding it today. At the same time, I think it’s important for me to take a day away from the site now and then. Instead, I am filled with guilt. The idea that I’m just wasting time. But isn’t that what weekends are for?

I’m going to try and play Scene It and then move on to Fable 2. We’ll see.

Have a great weekend,

Trina ^_^

Tiring day

Last night I attended the Girls In Tech event. It was the first women’s only event for the organization in Los Angeles. So much fun. I met some great women. Unfortunately staying out all night and waking up to be at work for a 7am meeting don’t go together. The day dragged on and on. I fell asleep around 4:30 pm the second I got home. Woke up again at 8pm.  Sleeping all night doesn’t exactly help you to be productive.

Tonight I planned to start to work on the new GA re-design. Arranging what modules we need, what we want to add to the site. I have a lot of ideas as to what we want to offer on GA. The future is so exciting I want it here now, except I don’t seem to have the time to work on it.

Two months ago I won time at BlankSpaces which is basically an open workspace for people to “cowork”.  I think I’ll be using that space to really focus on GA without the distractions available at home.  Part of that time will also be with Julia from GamerVixens to plan future events.

The funny thing about running a gaming website and planning for future events, site re-design and making relationships is that you end up with zero time to play games. I’m going to have to schedule some game time this weekend.

Now it’s time for bed…

Another day in IT

For those of you that know me, you know I work in IT. I also had an extremely tiring week last week.  Today started in the same manner, except the network was running. Last week, the network totally crashed. Every 18 minutes the firewall would reboot. While I am in IT, there are specialties in IT. I tend to hate networking and choose to never work in it. But I had no choice. I basically got a self taught crash course in our firewall and our network setup.  Three days of overtime with no lunch, I found that two possible pcs had a trojan or virus on them.

Today, I tackled those two pcs. One of which had 23 viruses and trojans on it. 23!! How do you even get that many? This is a person that I’m pretty sure doesn’t surf on the Internet, so basically it must have been an email. But still 23? No wonder our network crashed.

I will be confirming that everything is fine tomorrow and things should be back to normal. One rough week, but I learned alot about our setup.  At least I know I could fix and completely re-do our network if I had to.

Hopefully starting tomorrow I can get back to the world of GA again. ^_^

Welcome to my space

Hi everyone! Welcome to my place on the internet.  Hopefully you are already a member/reader of GamingAngels.com. GamingAngels.com is the premier online community for women that love all things geek. Yep, we cover all things gaming, but we also cover anime, comics, and gadgets/technology. We are adding a few new areas along with a complete re-design in the next few months.  A new book podcast and blog is starting and we will be launching a job board to help everyone find a job in this bad economy.

So what is the point of this blog? First, it’s a place where I can expand my thoughts on a few subjects. I really want to take a look at where I stand on certain issues and since it’s my opinion, it will be here instead of GA. I might move stuff over now and then to GA but this is really a blog for you to get to know me personally.

I will also write about what’s going on with GA here. As well as write some articles about things I have learned about running an online community.

I will probably rant about politics, celebrities, and anything else that gets me going here as well. The last reason for a WordPress blog for me is just to…learn wordpress. Pretty selfish, but I thought I could combine learning with putting something out there that you would enjoy.

Have a great Sunday and hope you enjoy it here.
