I am almost three months in my new role of mom and there are still some things that are just difficult to do. With my new Beco Gemini carrier, we’re definitely more mobile than we have been, but I’m not quite ready to tackle the grocery store. Mostly because she can’t sit up yet, so I can’t put her in the shopping cart (I need to find a shopping cart cover still). Our groceries can be quite heavy too and my hands are just not ready for that yet.
My mom suggested we try Von’s delivery. Now it may seem silly since the Von’s is literally 5 minutes away. But again, it takes me two hours just to get out of the house and I don’t want to pick up heavy groceries while wearing pumpkin in the carrier.
All you have to do is create an account on the Vons website and then you can shop away. The first delivery is even free! Vons has organized the items by Aisle. Each item has a description, picture and price listed. Some items even reflect Von’s club card savings. You can also search for specific brands/items. I found everything that we typically shop for although I ended up with a very large bag of cheese and a small box of Wheat Thins.
Near completion of the order, Vons.com asks if they can substitute certain items if they cannot find it. I’ve said no and today was the first time we had one item not delivered in our order because the store did not have it.
Last you pick the time for delivery. You can either do an exact time, or a window of time. Selecting a window of time saves you money. But really, if you account for how much an hour of your time is worth, it’s SO WORTH IT!
When they deliver, you get a print out confirmation to sign. They also can bring all the groceries in. Again assisting with my swelling, by me not having to lift anything.
We have now used the delivery service twice and I love it! Not only is it easy, but it is so much faster than when I actually go to the grocery store. This means more time with pumpkin! Anything that makes our life easier is a god send and I’m pretty sure we’ll be continuing to order Von’s Delivery.
