As you know, pumpkin has to wear a Doc-Band to fix the flat areas of her head. While it was definitely more traumatic to me putting it on her than her, I felt strongly that we had to decorate it. Luckily there are amazing people that feel the same way.
WrapBuddies is an amazing non-profit organization that loves to bring some happiness to what can be a difficult time. They have created over 1000 wraps for kids. Wrap Buddies is based in Texas, but they put me in touch with local company EyeDentityGfx in Camarillo for a wrap for Pumpkin.
It takes two meetings to get a wrap. In the first meeting they take the helmet and make a stencil of it. I’m assuming it’s how they get the wrap to fit so nicely. We also talk design ideas. After tossing around a few ideas, we decided a Minnie Mouse theme was perfect for her. (Her baby shower was also Minnie Mouse). For the second meeting, we left the band with EyeDentityGfx for an hour while they applied the wrap. We came back and it fit perfectly! We love the Minnie Mouse theme and the yellow bow is so cute! We had Princess put on the back in Disney font as well.
At D23, we received many comments about how cute pumpkin is. Some moms mentioned how they knew someone that had to get a band and that they didn’t know you could get it decorated. With 47% of babies ending up with a flat head, I think it’s important to spread the word that there are companies that are willing to help spread some love and cheer for free. It really does help with the healing process.
Thank you again to EyeDentityGfx for making us smile!
