Recently I sent two local moms to a launch event at a local LakeShore Learning store. The store launched new products encouraging “learning at home”. Both moms and kids had a great time playing with all the toys at the event!
Lakeshore has been around since the 50s with over 50 stores to date. The toys and products found in the store is a reflection of grade school imagination at its best. The company was founded by Ethelyn Kaplan single mother /entrepreneur and has been passed down two generations since her retirement.
The event was well thought out and organized from start to finish. I brought my family along to partake in the festivities. There were toy and activity stations placed all over the store. My six year olds personal favorite was the archery set with numbers. The store is very spacious which made it easier for customers and invited guests to shop and mingle with friends. I had the opportunity to speak with some of the product developers who also work as teachers. Lakeshores passion is to create products that foster essential skills related to every child’s stage in development. What better way to accomplish that goal and feed that passion than to have an educator fill that need. Lakeshore continues to push the learning curve by creating toys and sets for families to work on at home. Some examples are the build your own volcano set (which would have been handy in third grade),number bots and the alphabet zoo.
Lakeshore knows no limits when it comes to a child’s imagination and even has toys for the youngest learners. My baby enjoyed playing with the soft toys display. The nostalgic doctors kit, puppet show theatre, and go fish sets are happy reminders of grade school days past. It was fun walking down memory lane with my family. Thank you to Trina and Lakeshore for a beautiful day!
