You'll never really be ready, even the day of. It's just a lot of nervous energy, but it's all worth it in the end. :)

It's cool that you're already getting responses. I remember feeling crazy about who had responded, or who we might have actually missed sending a card to. Plus, just for propriety, we purposefully sent out a bunch of invitations to people we were certain wouldn't respond, but would be sad if they found out they hadn't been invited (like long distance family and friends). And then I was nervous someone like that would respond - and we'd go over our budget.

When it comes down to it though, it's a lot of unnecessary worry. People will respond or they won't, and it typically works out the way you need it to - with just the right number of people showing up on the big day.

I always find it surprising when guys argue that we should just "deal" or "be used to it" when these issues come up. Because I run GamingAngels.com, an online community about video games we run into these issues all the time. Where sex is used to appeal to men in marketing campaigns. We are constantly trying to stress gender neutral marketing and we do address when something in the game industry is sexist (EA - Lust campaign at SDCC). When we write these articles, we tend to get a ton of men saying we're being too sensitive or accused of being overly dramatic. But if we don't address these issues and bring up opportunities for change, then there will never be change and why should be be satisfied with that? Thank you for coming by and leaving a comment too! ^_^

What surprised me most about the response I got on my blog was many dudes just blew it off. They don't understand that most tech-savvy women expect more than just pink gadgets to make us happy.

There's nothing wrong with the color pink (and like you mentioned, had this been a Breast Cancer thing I would have been totally cool with it) but retailers and marketers need to realize that just "pinking and shrinking" a gadget won't make us buy it.
