Let’s talk Swaddling!

This week’s video is all about the different Swaddling products that are out there. Pumpkin is not even here yet and I already have Swaddle products from four different companies. From what I’ve read, babies seem to like some but not others. What I want to know is what brand did your baby like? Did you swaddle? Was it great for calming down your baby?

The brands I discuss in the video are:

Btw, there is a 50% off Halo SleepSack sale going on right now on their website. Although they are out of some inventory already.

  1. it’s been 3 weeks and I’m terrible at swaddling (my husband is soo good at it though). I have the Halo sleepsak and another brand that I like better (it’s tighter), but I can’t use them yet on my boys until they are over 7 pounds :( per the sizing guidelines :( Instead I have to have my husband reswaddle them or constantly check to make sure the blankets aren’t in their face.

  2. T was in Summer Infant swaddles for the first couple of months. They were easy because they just Velcro together. From about 3 – 15 months he was in Gro Bag sleep sacks, though they are a UK brand so I’m not sure you can get them in the US. They worked perfect for us, especially since you aren’t supposed to put a blanket in with them until they are 1 year old. I bought different weight bags and varied his under clothes depending on the temperature (e.g., just a onesie, just pj’s, both, long vs. short sleeve, etc.).

  3. Hi Trina, I think it depends on what season it is. Love A&A because it’s breathable, lightweight and you can use it as a burp cloth. However, my favorite is the Halo Sleepsacks and it is usually my shower gift choice for new parents.

Traditional swaddlers were a pain for us, my oldest son would cry when it came undone so he really needed swaddling to calm him. We didn’t know to look for the velcro feature til we had our second. Such a blessing.

Separately, the sleepsacks by Halo are really great. They come in three diff fabrics to fit the season. They are safer than blankets and we had two in each size. (You only need a couple in each size as baby grows really fast.)

    Good luck, Trina!

  4. I want some AA this time because it will be a warmer time of year this time and I think they’re just lovely, but we started with Carter’s litle swaddle blanket things and quickly grew into the ones my mom made. Same kind of aterial, just bigger and square. LOVED them, and later on they acted as a sheet for my son.
I didn’t get any of the swaddling items like a slep sack, but I’m fine with that because my son was happiest with his arms out over his head ;)
